What exactly is Twixmas and what can you do? Five experts across psychology, business and well-being, (Garnet PR's clients) share their top tips for Twixmas to set yourself up for a happier, healthier and wealthier 2023.
With the chaos of Christmas over and the New Year yet to arrive, those glorious days between 27-30 December are what’s fondly known as ‘Twixmas’.
Originating from the old English word ‘betwixt’, which literally means ‘between’, Twixmas refers to the time between Boxing Day and New Years’ Eve.
While some people spend the period preparing for frivolity and fun for New Year, others are putting their feet up and staying in PJs; it’s a time when anything goes!
But what if you could use Twixmas to get ahead and set yourself up for a fabulous New Year by investing time and energy in yourself? Five leading experts share their tips to get set up for a healthy & wealthy 2023 this Twixmas…
“Energy levels often take a hit in winter, especially during a busy holiday period and particularly if you’re an introvert. Twixmas is the perfect time to regroup, assess your energy leaks and identify what raises and depletes you.
Think of energy as your own personal currency; you need to invest it wisely, and that takes a level of awareness. A powerful exercise is to identify any ‘energy vampires’ in your life; these can be people, you know the ones, where after you spend time with them you feel drained, or could even be apps, people you follow on social media or activities. Chances are you’ll have experienced some of these over the Christmas season, which makes Twixmas the perfect time for a digital and energetic detox!
Use the time to identify what fills up your cup and what drains it, that way, come 2023, you will be able to manage when and where your energy goes and set strong boundaries for yourself and your mental well-being. You can get clear on when you’ll have unavoidable energy drains but also pre-plan time and experiences to restore that energy balance with feel-good activities and people. Managing, monitoring and aligning your energy is a game-changer for success and happiness in 2023!”

“Twixmas is a great time to get to grips with your finances, master your money mindset and set yourself up for a wealthier 2023. The actions that you take during this period can set the tone for the whole of the upcoming year, so make it count.
Work on releasing any negative emotions you’re holding onto, especially around money; fear, frustration, self-doubt, resentment, jealousy, they’ve all got to go! You cannot take energetic baggage with you into the new year, and expect things to be different. Yes we are in a recession and we can’t change that, but you can recession-proof your mindset and find ways to make more money if that’s what you desire.
Dedicate some time to exploring your spending habits over the past year, how does that make you feel? What would you like it to be like in 2023? Is it the year you’ll ask for a pay rise? Map that out if so. Or if you have a business, what financial goals do you have?
Clarity around your money is the first step to feeling empowered around it. Spending just 10 minutes a day looking at your finances is a strong habit to start during Twixmas to create wealth in the forthcoming year.”

“Make a promise to yourself that 2023 is going to be your happiest year yet, and that starts this Twixmas. The great news? You can be happier than ever before and create limitless joy in less than 10 minutes a day through a powerful morning ritual that is guaranteed to make you feel more positive.
The way you begin your day has a profound impact on how you feel and how your day flows, and over time by creating micro-moments of positivity, the compound effect creates massive change. When you live life in a peak state you will experience more joy, fulfilment and success as a result. If you don’t then you won’t, it really is that simple.
Here’s my seven-step unstoppable morning ritual that everyone can follow and do in less than 10 minutes a day:
Gratitude - start your day by writing or saying aloud what things you are grateful for.
Connect - with your mind and soul by meditating and doing some deep breathing exercises.
Move - your body. Whether it’s running, jumping or doing star jumps. Get that blood flowing.
Visualise your higher self - what does your next level look like and step into that vision powerfully.
Dance - to your favourite song and get your energy going.
Affirm - the mantras you choose to live by. Which written mantras are important and powerful for you?
Speak - your desires into existence. What you speak is what you will attract.”

“One of the most powerful things you can do during Twixmas is to reflect on the year just passed and set goals for the upcoming year. Research shows that people who set goals are far more successful than those who don't.
Relationships, finances, business, career, health, fitness, you can set goals in any aspect of your life! They act as a road map, helping you gain clarity on what you want and to create a plan to make it happen, otherwise, you’re just aimlessly drifting.
In the busy, always-on world we live in, it’s very easy to keep moving forwards without stopping, pausing and really looking at where you are now, what went well in the previous year, what perhaps didn’t and what you truly want next.
Once you have your big goals decided, you can ‘reverse-engineer’, or work backwards, from them to craft a step-by-step plan to make them happen in bitesize, manageable chunks with mini-milestones to strive towards.
Taking some time during Twixmas to do this exercise, even for just 30 minutes, means you’ll go into the New Year with a headstart feeling motivated, energised and focused. You’ll be setting yourself up for limitless abundance and success in whichever areas of your life you wish to focus on.”

“The single most powerful thing you can do to set yourself up for a happier and healthier 2023 this Twixmas is to commit to your physical wellness.
How do you feel? Do you have a fitness or well-being goal in mind? By taking action now, and not making fitness or movement a new years’ resolution at the risk of being broken by Quitters Day (Friday 13 Jan), you will get ahead and start developing healthier habits.
Did you find in 2022 that you spent more time slouched or sat for hours behind a desk than out and about moving? Make a promise to yourself to move for at least 30 minutes every day and start during Twixmas while you have more free time, then make it a non-negotiable that’s in your daily diary for the new year!
This could be anything from a commitment to a lunchtime walk, a half an hour yoga class on YouTube or some time at the gym. Movement is vital for not only our physical health but our mental health too.”
- Elisabeth Clare, Managing Director of MBST Medical UK
A final top tip from Rhiannon:
“A great final idea for Twixmas is to check in with what’s influencing you and how this aligns with who you want to be and what you want to achieve in 2023.
Clearing out who you’re following on social media is a fantastic exercise to do on the sofa in front of a movie in those PJs! Make sure you only follow accounts that inspire, motivate or educate you - this will do wonders for your mental wellness by reducing any triggers and comparisonitis which can make you feel unhappy or not good enough.
Set yourself up so that 2023 is the year you fully own how amazing you are, and that you create the happiest, healthiest, wealthiest version of you.”
By implementing some or all of these expert tips this Twixmas, you can truly set yourself up for a happier, healthier and wealthier 2023.
Wishing you a fabulous Twixmas and Happy New Year!
