How To Make Mindset Your Secret Superpower

Now, life is a series of ups and downs, that's just the way it is. Even the most perfect insta-life isn't like that behind the scenes ALL the time. But there's a simple habit to shift into a positive state.

And it will help with everything else...

Mindset work.

We can develop our ability through hard work and effort, but also through focusing on the positives and building our self-belief; aka creating a positive or growth mindset.

Once you get into this mindset, you’ll find your behaviour changes and you start to see different (amazing) results. Having a growth mindset, the belief that the world is full of opportunity, is the key to success.

Whatever your goals in 2020, cultivating a growth mindset is the ideal first step
Whatever your goals, cultivating a growth mindset is the first step to success.

Yes, hard work, effort, and persistence are all important, but not as important as having that underlying belief that you are in control of your own destiny. It’s widely said that success is 20% strategy, 80% mindset and I 100% believe there's truth in this.

Like anything, mindset needs work, care and nurturing. Think of it like a muscle, you can’t just do nothing and expect it to be strong, it needs time, dedication and investment to become rock solid.

There’s also no point having a great mindset and never using it, you need to put it into practice…

The trick here, I find, is to create what I like to call ‘success routines’. Those things you do which get you into a positive state, flexing your mindset muscle and feeding it with goodness.

I have two routines each day, both short, designed to work for me. That’s the secret, anything you do needs to work for you. Yes, like all new things, it might feel uncomfortable at first, but just like any exercise, the more you commit and lean into it, the easier it gets.

Rise and shine: my morning routine

- 3-5 gratitudes - what am I grateful for in that moment - 3-5 focuses - a vision board helps here to zone in on what you're working towards. I also include a ‘word of the day’, for example, focus, clarity, confidence, this helps me step into who I am that day - 5 affirmations - powerful I AM statements - Journaling - how I'm feeling, zoning in on my goals -Daily mantra - who am I today, who do I serve and what is my superpower

Sleep easy: my evening routine

- 3 gratitudes - what am I grateful for from the day

- Win of the day - at least one win from the day, big or small

I really lean into what I'm writing, I visualise it, I feel it, and then I step into my day with confidence and positivity.

Now let’s delve into each of these mindset tools a little deeper…

Gratitudes

Twice a day in the morning and evening, I write out and reflect on the things I feel grateful for that day. When you focus on feeling grateful, the way you approach everything changes.

Intrinsically linked to the Law of Attraction and positivity, gratitudes are a game-changer for getting into a positive state.

Gratitudes are your chance to thank the universe for things that have happened, or things that are yet to happen, using the Law of Attraction to bring them to fruition. This is similar to how we approach visualising our goals, which I will explain later in this blog.

So pre-empting these and focusing on the positives will equip you to better process the challenges. Why not start a list now and write down 10 things you are grateful for?

Setting your intention for the day

As part of my morning routine, I choose a 'word of the day'. This is a new addition to my morning routine and is helping me lean into what I want to achieve that day.

I am a huge advocate for success routines. A lot of people talk about and use a morning routine, but I love a morning and an evening one! Like we’ve said, your mind is your most powerful tool, we need to feed it with nourishment, care and attention, just like anything else.

The key with routines is to find what works for you. There is no point forcing yourself to do something which just doesn’t fit with your daily life, your personal preferences or your lifestyle.  Remember it takes 21 days to form a habit so if this feels a bit weird, that's normal, push through then thank me later.

Leaning into your vision board and your goals

There are two ways to harness vision in your business - one is thinking about your vision for the future. What do you want to achieve? Create a long-term strategy.

The other is more personal and is a vision board. Your vision board should help to keep you motivated, containing the things you really want and are working towards. By really visualising your goals, you give them power, and you are training your unconscious brain to believe they have already happened.

Both of these should help you to visualise and manifest what it is you truly want, for your business and for yourself. The world really is your oyster. Think big, this is your chance to dream.

Journaling

The first thing to say here is that there is no right or wrong way to journal. It is simply a way to get your thoughts out of your head, to gain clarity and understanding of what you are thinking or feeling and to process any sticking points.

It helps you to harness the power of your mind and control your thoughts, as opposed to your thoughts controlling you. I find journaling also improves my mood. It helps to prioritise problems, goals, and tasks and get them out of your head so they don’t build and build into something which feels overwhelming.

Along with your thoughts, by journaling out your goals every day and writing them as if they have already happened, you are helping your unconscious mind to believe that you have hit them, utilising the Law of Attraction to call them in.

Here are some journaling prompts to get you started:

  • What is the one thing I can’t get out of my mind

  • How do I really feel right now

  • What do I want to achieve today

  • What didn’t I achieve today

  • What has gone well today

  • What do I need to focus on

  • What have I learnt today

  • What can I do differently tomorrow

I fully recommend getting yourself a gorgeous journal to keep for your scribbles

Journaling is possibly one of the most simple but profound tools out there for enhancing your well-being on every level

Affirmations

These are powerful ‘I Am’ statements to motivate and inspire yourself. When practised regularly, a positive affirmation can help to make lasting, long-term changes to the way that you think and feel.

These are a big part of my morning routine, I really lean into them and focus on using them to get myself into the best state I can to set me up for my day.

Some affirmations I love are:

  • I am a money magnet

  • I am a time and productivity ninja

  • I am the queen of work-life harmony

  • I am in control of my diary

  • I am financially abundant

  • I am a PR Powerhouse

  • I am a positivity Queen

  • I am capable of anything and everything

  • I am worthy of it all

  • I am unstoppable

I recommend putting aside some time and writing down around 15-30 affirmations you love, then using these as a pool to pull from each day. Have a go!

I was a total sceptic about mindset training, but since doing it every. single. day. my mindset, state and vibe have totally changed. I feel happier, calmer, more confident and I'm seeing the success that comes with that high vibe state.

I still have wobbles, of course, it's human. But they are manageable, understandable and easily conquered.

I attribute mindset work to a lot of the success I've had in the last few months; since I started working on me, every single element of my life has benefitted.

So, now you know the ‘how’, I encourage you to take each of these steps to transform your mindset and see the world become so much more sparkly
